Established by the Legal Services Act 2007 and with full statutory powers since January 2009, the Legal Services Board (LSB) is the oversight regulator for legal services in England and Wales. The LSB is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) but is independent from government and the legal profession. We play a critical role in advancing the public interest in the legal services market by encouraging innovation and competition, enhancing access to justice and securing a better deal for consumers, whilst also ensuring the highest standards of competence, conduct and service in the legal profession. This is a unique role in an organisation whose remit embraces economic, professional and consumer protection regulation and which offers a significant opportunity to make a real impact for consumers of legal services in England and Wales. The LSB is a small but influential organisation with a strong people-centred culture, as demonstrated by the exceptional results in our latest staff survey. We are now seeking a new Chief Executive who will be responsible for the performance, capability and culture of the organisation, ensuring that our people continue to be at the heart of what we do. You will work closely with a broad range of external stakeholders, including the wider legal services sector, the MoJ and the public, to ensure that we have the confidence and partnerships we need to succeed. This is a prominent, challenging, and exciting leadership role within England and Wales, giving you the ability to make your mark by successfully delivering our purpose, introducing improvements, and making sure we maximise the value of our work. An accomplished senior leader with a track record of providing influential and inspirational leadership at a senior level in a complex organisation, you will bring experience from one or more branch of regulation (economic, professional or conduct of business), economics, public policy, strategy or communications. With the ability to influence at the most senior level, you will have experience of developing, maintaining and leveraging a wide range of relationships to drive positive outcomes. You will be a capable strategic thinker, able to inspire and motivate a diverse and high performing organisation, as well as being an excellent communicator to varied audiences. Your ability to quickly grasp a complex regulatory and policy environment is also critical.
